An active support program for the development of natural gums in Africa AIDGUM: The International Association Established in 1974, AIDGUM sustains the development of Acacia gum production in Africa by providing scientific and technological support to farmers as well as agricultural specialists. Seminars, meetings and training sessions are organized by AIDGUM in cooperation with the Agricultural Departments of the producing countries. AIDGUM, in association with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the UN International Trade Centre, has published studies about the production, uses and marketing of Acacia Gum. AIDGUM is an official representative for the 15 Acacia gum producing countries concerning the use of Acacia gum as a food ingredient or additive, to the UN Codex Alimentarius Commission and regulatory agencies such as the European Commission, the US FDA and similar national food regulatory bodies. |
